Michael Brown

Managing Partner

Michael is the Managing Partner at Bowery Capital based in New York. Prior to Bowery Capital, Brown co-founded AOL Ventures and led investments in over 30 companies primarily focused around the next generation of CMO and CTO spend. Before AOL Ventures, Michael worked for the investment arm of Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, helping to invest capital in early stage internet startups on behalf of the British entrepreneur. He began his career at Morgan Stanley. Outside of his professional life Brown serves on the Board of Directors of the National Forest Foundation and co-chairs the Columbia College Young Leaders Council. Michael holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University.

Nic Poulos

Partner

Nic is a Partner at Bowery Capital based in New York. He focuses on investments in enterprise cloud software, with particular experience in machine learning, supply chain & logistics, healthcare IT, and vertical SaaS. Prior to forming Bowery Capital, Nic worked as an Associate at AOL Ventures, where he helped drive investment in and support of over 20 early-stage technology companies. Before AOL Ventures, he served in a strategy role in AOL, leading various business development initiatives for the company's ad tech and video properties. Nic began his career in technology Investment Banking at GCA Global (fka GCA Savvian), where he supported M&A and private financing advisory as an Analyst in the firm's Internet group. Nic holds an A.B. from Princeton University.

Loren Vittetoe

Principal

Loren is a Principal at Bowery Capital based in New York. Prior to joining Bowery Capital, Loren was an Associate in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs where she participated in a number of equity, debt and M&A transactions, predominantly in the enterprise software and internet sectors. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Loren worked at Groupon in the Corporate Finance Division where she built and led the initial Investor Relations department and subsequently ran Financial Planning & Analysis for the company’s 12 countries in APAC. Loren started her career at Activision Blizzard in the Investor Relations department. Loren has a B.S. in Communication from Boston University.

Alexandra Adamson

Director of Talent

Alexandra is the Director of Talent at Bowery Capital based in New York. She works with the firm's entrepreneurs on their human capital strategies including recruiting, interviewing, compensation planning, sales management, and onboarding. Prior to joining Bowery Capital, Alexandra was the Director of Account Management at Betts Recruiting in San Francisco. She worked closely with founders of high growth software companies including Everstring, Rubrik, Intercom, Apptimize, Zenefits, and Tintri to build out their human capital efforts focused on early revenue generation. Alexandra holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from The University of Michigan.

Andrew Oddo

Director of Growth

Andrew is the Director of Growth at Bowery Capital based in New York. He works directly with our founders to implement strategies, processes, and internal technology to enable their early sales, marketing, and customer success efforts. Prior to joining Bowery Capital, Andrew was the Director of Sales at CrowdTangle where he scaled sales and operations leading up to their acquisition by Facebook in 2016. Previously Andrew was at Chartbeat as a sales engineer and strategic account executive, growing relationships with clients like the BBC, Gannett, and NY Times. Andrew concentrated in marketing and finance as an undergrad at Boston College.

David Soloff

Venture Partner, San Francisco

David co-founded Premise, a global economic monitoring platform based in San Francisco backed by Social Capital and Google Ventures. He has two decades of experience in capital markets, data infrastructure and startups, running the gamut from quant modeling to product design to corporate strategy. In addition to running Premise and working as a Venture Partner for Bowery, he serves on the advisory board of Columbia University’s Institute for Data Sciences, appointed by Columbia President Lee Bollinger. Prior to Premise, he was the founding CEO of Metamarkets, backed by Khosla Ventures and True Ventures. David holds a graduate degree from UC Berkeley, where he was a Javits and Pritchett Fellow pursuing the study of social, economic and linguistic history of the Greek and Roman world. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from Columbia. He lives in Berkeley with his wife and three kids.

Adam Smith

Venture Partner, San Francisco

Adam has over twenty years of experience managing and building large scale technical organizations for both start-ups and major corporations. Prior to Bowery, Adam was a General Partner at AOL Ventures. Before AOL, he spent 7 years as a product manager at Google where he earned the Founders Award for starting and leading the Ads Quality Team. He was also a key member in the Google search results page re-design. When he’s not working, Adam spends his “free” time rock climbing, running and enjoying the wonders of new fatherhood.

Neil Capel

Venture Partner, New York

Neil's long-term experience leading large-scale, high-demand web systems led him to develop Sailthru, one of the fastest growing marketing technology companies. Sailthru enables retailers and publishers to grow revenue more effectively and efficiently through cross-channel, personalized experiences - providing outstanding online and in-person experiences to every consumer at scale. In addition to achievements of scale, Sailthru is known for its strong company culture. As founder of Sailthru, Neil focused tremendously on corporate culture, so that he could foster an environment of collaboration, continuous learning and achievement among Sailthru employees, of which there are now over 150 in the US, Canada, UK and New Zealand.

Zach Sims

Zach is the cofounder and CEO of Codecademy, the leading online education company closing the skills gap by teaching programming. Codecademy has reached millions of users in every country in the world. Codecademy’s investors include Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Index Ventures, Richard Branson, Yuri Milner, and more. Zach has worked with GroupMe (acq. by Skype) and drop.io (acq. by Facebook). Zach was named to Inc. Magazine and Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 lists, was selected as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, and was voted as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2013.

Mark Roberge

Revenue Council Member, Boston

Mark Roberge is a Senior Lecturer in the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at the Harvard Business School. He teaches Entrepreneurial Sales and Marketing in the second-year MBA program in the Fall term and The Entrepreneurial Manager in the first-year MBA program in the Winter term. Prior to HBS, Mark served as SVP of Global Sales and Services at HubSpot (NYSE: HUBS) where he scaled annualized revenue from $0 to $100 million and expanded his team from 1 to 450 employees. Mark was ranked #19 in Forbes' Top 30 Social Sellers in the World. He was also awarded the 2010 Salesperson of the Year at the MIT Sales Conference. Mark is active with a number of startups as a board of director’s member, advisory board member, and angel investor. Mark received his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, Inc. Magazine, Boston Globe, TechCrunch, Harvard Business Review, and other major publications for his entrepreneurial ventures. Allison Pickens

Revenue Council Member, San Francisco

Alison Pickens is the Chief Customer Officer at Gainsight. Pickens joined Gainsight in January 2014 as Chief of Staff and quickly advanced to leading Business Development, Operations, and Customer Success. She has been running all post-sales functions, including Customer Success, Services, Support, Customer Marketing, and Operations. Widely regarded as a thought leader in Customer Success, Pickens has built Gainsight’s best practices for Customer Success both with her team and through her work with clients over the last three years. Pickens has scaled and unified Gainsight’s post-sales organization to create a holistic customer experience, and through that experience, shares her insights with other companies building high-performing Customer Success practices within their organizations. She is a sought-after speaker and has a highly trafficked blog on Customer Success. Upon joining Gainsight, Pickens brought a wealth of experience working with enterprise companies during her time at Boston Consulting Group, where she developed business transformation strategies with Fortune 500 companies, a skill she now brings to her work at Gainsight in operationalizing Customer Success with her clients. Distinctive to her approach is her background in investing, having spent two years working in Private Equity at Bain Capital. Nisha Ahluwalia

Revenue Council Member, San Francisco

Nisha Ahluwalia is the former CMO at PagerDuty. She has startup, tech, and software-as-a-service experience across several marketing areas, including demand generation, product marketing, PR, content marketing, and branding. She's experienced in building marketing organizations and launching and growing products. Her previous roles include positions at companies such as Cisco WebEx and RingCentral. She graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in Computer Science.

Emmanuelle Skala

Revenue Council Member, Boston

Emmanuelle Skala last served as the VP of Sales & Customer Success at DigitalOcean. As a self-proclaimed “off the chart extrovert,” it comes to no surprise that Emmanuelle Skala has always loved being in front of a crowd, engaging with customers and building teams. Prior to DigitalOcean, Emmanuelle joined Influitive as the VP of Sales in March of 2014, helping scale the business 10x and quickly became a leader amongst her peers in SaaS – having been asked to speak at many industry events. Before Influitive, Emmanuelle served as the Vice President of Global Channel Sales at Sophos, and was globally responsible for Channel Strategy, Programs, Operations and Enablement. While at Sophos, Skala won the CRN Channel Chief award for both 2012 and 2013, and was also the recipient of CRN’s Top 100 Women in the Channel in the year 2013. Skala was also the first hired salesperson at two B2B software start-ups: Endeca and Vertica and was fortunate to see both through rapid growth and successful acquisitions by Oracle and HP respectively. Emmanuelle holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from New York University’s School of Business. She lives outside of Boston MA with her husband and 3 daughters. When she does get a few minutes of free time, Emmanuelle enjoys running, skiing, hot yoga and has recently started finding some balance with meditation.
