Defined Thesis: Since 2010, the Bowery team has served as day-to-day thought partners to founders focused on bringing next-generation tools to the enterprise. We have seen first-hand the beginnings of a new market cycle in which the CMOs and CTOs of tomorrow look to disruptive B2B startups to upgrade their organizations. Helping our startups map this trend within their sector and leverage it to drive results is a challenge we think about every single day.

Concentrated Value-Add: The key measure of success for our startups, bar none, has been high-quality, sustainable customer growth. So instead of offering a range of services, we focus on what matters: helping entrepreneurs win their early customers. We want to be a founder’s most actionable source of leads and their first call.

    Mike Brown Jr.

    Investment Team

    Mike is the General Partner at Bowery Capital based in New York. Prior to Bowery Capital, Brown co-founded AOL Ventures and led investments in over 30 companies primarily focused around the next generation of CMO and CTO spend. Before AOL Ventures, Mike worked for the investment arm of Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, helping to invest capital in early stage internet startups on behalf of the British entrepreneur. He began his career at Morgan Stanley. Outside of his professional life Brown serves on the Board of Directors of the National Forest Foundation and co-chairs the Columbia College Young Leaders Council. Mike holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University.

    Keegan Forte

    Investment Team

    Keegan is the General Manager at Bowery Capital based in New York. Prior to forming Bowery Capital, Keegan was Chief of Staff at AOL Ventures where she worked closely with the fund partners on investment and deal flow as well as deal sourcing, screening, due diligence and portfolio management. She also managed the AOLV brand in relation to sponsorships, partnerships, events, social media and marketing. Before AOL Ventures, Keegan worked as a Finance & M&A Assistant at IAC (InterActive Corp) and in the Programming department at ABC Radio Networks. Keegan is a founding member and director of the Bike to the Beach NY foundation for Autism Speaks. She holds a BA in Communication and Marketing from Fairfield University.

    Nic Poulos

    Investment Team

    Nic is a Principal at Bowery Capital based in New York. Prior to forming Bowery Capital, Nic was an Associate at AOL Ventures where he helped drive investment in and support of over 20 companies, primarily in the enterprise software space. Before AOL Ventures, he served as a Manager at Advertising.com, leading various business development initiatives focused around ad tech and sales. Earlier, Nic worked as a technology investment banking analyst at GCA Savvian Advisors in the firm’s Internet group. While there, he participated in the acquisitions of Broadband Enterprises and Register.com, as well as various early- and mid-stage private financings. Nic holds an A.B. in History from Princeton University.

    Eric Vreeland

    Investment Team

    Eric is an Analyst at Bowery Capital based in New York. Prior to joining Bowery Capital, Eric was a member of both the Enterprise Marketing and Small Business Acquisition teams at Yext where he worked on lead generation and branding strategy through blogging, search engine optimization, web development, video marketing, social media as well as various paid advertising channels. Before Yext, Eric worked as an Inbound Marketing Manager at HubSpot, which is where he got his introduction to Inbound Marketing while specializing in email marketing and webinar production. Eric has an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University.

    David Soloff

    Venture Partner, San Francisco

    David is Co-founder of Premise, a global economic monitoring platform based in San Francisco backed by Google Ventures. David has a 15 years’ financial markets and startup experience, running the gamut from quant modeling, to product design, to corporate strategy. He advises established companies on digital, data and monetization strategies. Prior to Premise, Mr. Soloff was the Co-Founder and CEO of Metamarkets backed by Khosla Ventures. David holds a graduate degree from University of California, Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in Linguistics from Columbia University.

    Adam Smith

    Adam has over twenty years of experience managing and building large scale technical organizations for both start-ups and major corporations. Prior to Bowery, Adam was a General Partner at AOL Ventures. Before AOL, he spent 7 years as a product manager at Google where he earned the Founders Award for starting and leading the Ads Quality Team. He was also a key member in the Google search results page re-design. When he’s not working, Adam spends his “free” time rock climbing, running and enjoying the wonders of new fatherhood.

    Neil Capel

    Neil is currently the Founder and CEO of Sailthru, a recommendation and personalized communications platform based in New York and backed by Benchmark Capital and RRE Ventures. Neil is a recognized leader in the world of large-scale, high-demand web systems with over fifteen years of experience focused on technical infrastructure, behavioral targeting and big data collection and usage. Prior to founding Sailthru, Neil was the CTO for MusicNation, ASmallWorld, and MoneyMedia (Financial Times). Neil graduated with a BS and MS in Computer Science from the University of Portsmouth.
