We are excited to announce our investment in Incentiv. Bowery Capital led the $3M round. Below lays out some specifics surrounding our involvement and the investment in the company.

Who?

Incentiv was founded by Matt Fanelli after spending nearly eight years in the private equity world at Permira and several years in investment banking at Goldman Sachs. Loren and Matt have known each other for over a decade, having met at Goldman Sachs back in 2013. Matt was someone who stood out from the rest and we made a point to stay in touch over the years. When Matt approached us about his idea to disrupt the archaic and unsustainable system for making executive compensation decisions, we knew we had to be a part of it.

What?

The Incentiv platform was designed from the ground up to address the unique compensation and talent management challenges of private market investors. The solution leverages innovative technology including advancements in generative AI to help investment firms and private companies accomplish 3 major things:

  1. Save time & money: Seamlessly collect relevant benchmarks to calibrate your decisions to the market - so talent leaders don’t overspend or under-motivate.

  2. Make better decisions: Access the most comprehensive set of metrics updated in real-time to inform decisions across all types of management incentives.

  3. Attract top talent: Land your dream exec team with data-driven offer packages.

Why?

Today, getting access to relevant benchmarking data to help inform key decisions in the private markets is difficult, and the stakes have never been higher. As the talent war rages on, in any given comp decision millions of dollars are at stake – a 2% miss on a $50M comp package is $1M - and investors are making 100s of these decisions a year. Today it’s still common for investment firms to use a combination of survey reports, spreadsheets of internal benchmarks, and even intuition to inform these decisions but the process has become time-intensive, complex, and often incomplete. There is simply too much at stake to NOT have a solution like Incentiv.

Where?

Incentiv is based in New York City.
