Wizeline announced earlier this month that it was to be acquired via a control buyout by Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec (CDPQ). This marks the end of an era for Bowery Capital and our involvement in the company via Fund I. Venture investors talk a lot about betting on the right team, and we think we got this one right with our friend Bismarck Lepe. His maturity and "second level thinking" on the ecosystem was incredibly impressive and we were excited to get involved back in December of 2013. Sourced and led by our Venture Partner Adam Smith, the company hit the ground running and never looked back. Perhaps one of the coolest things that we were able to see was Bismarck's passion for Mexico and the broader LATAM region. The company was built and grown in Mexico. Many of the early investors and employees are based in Mexico. The returns from these investments and options will get reinvested into the startup ecosystem. Congratulations to Bismarck and the whole Wizeline team on this incredible milestone!
